Best of Utah: Natural History Museum of Utah
This is seriously one of the most fun museums I have ever been to, and I love museums, so I have been to a lot! There was so much to see! I wish I would have taken more pictures of the rest of the museum, and not just the dinosaurs (I am a sucker for any sort of dinosaur display), because it was awesome! This museum had everything from dirt, to bones, to individual cells, to habitat displays both current and historic, to weather patters, and earthquakes! There were tons of interactive displays, one of which my husband especially enjoyed. The museum has this set up where people can try to build their own mini building and see if it would have held up through different earthquakes throughout history, complete with tips and tricks on how to make your building the best. Me being me, I took the most pictures of the dinosaurs, but even just that display alone was well worth the museum tickets!
The dinosaurs were HUGE! As can be expected of course, but it was great. I've only ever been to one other dinosaur museum before, and there were not nearly the amount of bones that this one had! Standing next to some of these display was both intriguing, and a bit intimidating! So glad I did not live in the time of dinosaurs, I rather enjoy not being at the bottom of the food chain.
Selfies abound when doing fun things with my sweetheart! I like to remember it all, so of course pictures must be taken.
Something kind of neat I noticed while looking at each of the displays was the dinosaur tummies, not that they actually have tummies anymore, but I guess around where they would have been. I don't know much about dinosaurs, so I don't know what it means, or if it means anything at all, but I noticed that a lot of the meat eating dinosaurs had what looked like two rib cages, one on top, and one on bottom. The plant eaters didn't have that. If anyone reading this knows anything about dinosaurs, I would be super interested to know what you think about that (comment below!).
Okay, so they weren't all dinosaurs, but still way cool! These guys made me feel so small! I'm glad I didn't live in the time of the mammoths, or saber tooth tigers, either. I think I may be a little spoiled by this day and age, but I am not about to complain. I love it! Especially the part where I am not at the bottom of the food chain! I rather enjoy where I am at now.
This is for sure a museum I would want to visit again. I am glad my husband and I made the trip. Next time I'll be sure to take more pictures in the rest of the museum, too! Until next time.
