Best of Utah: Big East Lake, Payson

Lunch at the lake? I say yay!  As far as hiking goes, this is another easy one.  It's actually paved the whole way, is about a mile long, and loops all the way around the lake.  Over all it was very clean.  I was not incredibly impressed with the bathrooms, as they were not as clean as they could be, and there was no soap, but that is not an uncommon thing in areas like this.  The water was not incredibly clear by any means, but it was decently warm and great for kayaks, blow up rafts, and casual swimming.

The view was beautiful.  The trees were just starting to change their color, and right behind the lake was the perfect mountain view.  They did ask for eight dollars upon entrance.  I am glad we brought out swimsuits, even though the original plan was just to eat lunch and head out.  All in all, it ended up being very worth the eight dollars.

Judging by the many fisherman around, I would say Big East Lake is more than likely a great place to go fishing as well.  I can't attest to that by experience, but there were plenty fisherman scattered all around the blue waters.  There were little groups of ducks here and there as well.  Turns out ducks do not like grapes.  I guess I need to do my research, so I can be more prepared next time, but those little ducks spit those grapes right out.

Lance and I enjoyed sitting on the rocks eating lunch, before we discovered there are actually picnic tables all along the water as well.  I enjoyed our little perch though. Big East Lake was the perfect lunch spot, and another place we will surely have to take the kiddos one of these days.  (You know, once we actually have kiddos).
