Best of Utah: Grotto Falls
This was a beautiful hike. It was short and sweet, only about a half mile in from the start of the trail. There were enough people on the trail to know that Grotto Falls is quite the popular destination, but being the beginning of September, there were few enough that is was not overly crowded. It was the perfect time to go, seeing as it was not too hot on the way up, but still warm enough to be comfortable getting soaked under the falls.
For anyone who might be interested, this would be a great hike for kiddos. There were fun little streams with little wooden bridges to the other side. The bridges were wide and sturdy enough to easily help any littles across, and every little one we saw on the trail had a blast doing it. Once at the falls, the water was shallow, and easy to play in. I would, however, recommend shoes with backs on them, as flip flops may easily fall off, and the bottom of the pool is covered in rocks. I made my way semi easily to the falls without shoes, but for the sake of comfort, or little children, some other shoes would have been nice.
Above the falls was almost as beautiful as being down in the falls. Right behind me, if you look carefully, you can see the top of the waterfall, and if you are careful, you can look over the edge and see it all. Note to self: take more pictures of the beautiful things you see!!

The drive up was beautiful, being only about seven or so miles up the Payson canyon. Being the very beginning of fall, the leaves were just beginning to lose their green color. There was just enough green, and just enough yellows, and oranges, and reds, to make the perfect end of summer drive. We might have to make this trip a September tradition.
This is definitely a hike I would go on again. It was a great hike for a day where we didn't have the time to go too far, but needed to get some fresh air. Not to mention the perfect spot for snacking! Because of course Lance and I had to get a goodie on the way. (Mine is a rainbow fruity flavored rice krispy treat. Yum!)
Shout out to my sweet handsome husband, who loves to go and do fun things with me. He is always up for an adventure, especially when it involves the great outdoors. He is my hiking buddy, my camping buddy, and my rafting buddy, and I am so thankful I found such a guy as him. Looking forward to our next adventure!
